Duties and responsibilities:  social workers help people and their families with problems in their lives and such as serious illness, child abuse, substance abuse, mental illness, handicaps, juvenile delinquency, and anti-social behavior.  Often they must help people accept situations that cannot be changed and make them think positive. 

Salary: social workers who specialize in children and family welfare made in median salary of $41,530 in 2012 according to the BLS. The best paid 10 percent in the field earned $71,000 while the lowest paid made approximately $26,720…!

Education:  for their education students should prepare for a career in social work by taking challenging high school courses, especially in English, science,  and including math. 

Reflection: would you like to be one? yeah I would like to be a social worker  because you help people and families you help kids baby’s etc. a lot of people I like to help people I think I want to take this career.

·         Assess patients' needs through observations, medical records, tests, and talking with other healthcare professionals, patients’ families, and patients

·         Create treatment plans and programs that meet patients’ needs and interests

·         Plan and implement interventions to prevent harm to a patient

·         Engage patients in therapeutic activities, such as games and field trips

·         Help patients learn social skills needed to become or remain independent

Salary: The median annual wage for recreational therapists was $42,280 in May 2012. The median wage is the wage at which half the workers in an occupation earned more than that amount and half earned less. The lowest 10 percent earned less than $26,410, and the top 10 percent earned more than $67,280.

Education: Most recreational therapists need a bachelor’s degree in recreational therapy or a related field. Though less common, associate’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees are also available.

Recreational therapy programs include courses in assessment, human anatomy, medical and psychiatric terminology, characteristics of illnesses and disabilities, and the use of assistive devices and technology. Bachelor’s degree programs usually include an internship.

5. The natural history of treated and untreated cardiac surgical conditions, including ischemic heart disease and its complications, valvular heart disease, thoracic aortic disease, heart failure and transplantation of heart and lung, conduction system disturbances, pericardial disease.
