work on ambulances. What they are allowed to do will depend upon which state
they are in. All are trained in CPR and management of many other emergency
situations. EMTs, or Emergency Medical
Technicians, are first responders responsible for emergency patient care. EMTs
do not play any role in policing or firefighting and may, in certain
situations, be held back until an area is secured by firefighters or police.
The primary job of an EMT is to provide emergency care sufficient to safely
transport a patient to a hospital.
